Winter hiking adventures in the Romanian – Bulgarian cross-border region

Slowly, but surely, we begin to recover and to loosen up from the tense state generated by the pandemic with the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. We have created a new lifestyle, we have learned to live in the new context and, above all, we have learned to value and pay extra attention to our health and that of our loved ones.

From this experience, we, the entire humanity, understood that we cannot take for granted or, at least, treat superficially the safety, the life, our whole existence. And we understood that change always starts with us, not with the others! That each of us is responsible for our actions and that it is exclusively in the power of each of us to learn to be proactive towards ourselves and, thus, towards the society in which we live.

With these considerations, we, the "Green Tour Pro" team, always eager for running & hiking, socialize and all for FUN activities, we decided to postpone the running events until we know for sure that we do not endanger anyone's health. First of all, outdoor sports events of this kind are mass events, attended by a large number of people, so we can`t take any risk in that matter.

Regarding the second tourist package developed within our project - Hiking Trail Adventures in the CBC area -, here we have a limited number of participants per event, which means that we can safely manage to organize such an adventure in nature. The maximum number of people who can participate in a hike on the tourist routes developed by us in the cross-border region is 20.

And although it's winter, the weather is still quite cold, we organized two interesting hiking adventures for active tourists, who want to escape for few days from the everyday life. So, we chose to discover in winter the natural landscapes on the Great Island and on the northern shore of the Danube, from Chiciu to Ciocanesti, together with tourists from Bucharest and Ploiesti. The hiking adventures took place over four days each, in January and February, and were intended for small groups of tourists.
